Seven people including former Jatiya Party MP Abdul Quader Khan have been awarded with death penalty for killing former Awami League MP (Gaibandha-1) Manjurul Islam Liton.
Gaibandha District and Sessions Judge Dilip Kumar Bhowmik pronounced the verdict on Thursday.
On November 18, the court fixed November 28 to deliver its verdict in the murder case.
On December 31, 2016, the then Gaibandha 1 MP Liton was shot by assailants at his home at Sundarganj upazila. Later, he succumbed to his injuries at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Liton's elder sister Fahmida Kakuli Bulbul filed the murder case with Sundarganj police station.
