`Vivekananda Scholarship` awarded among JnU students

Professor Dr.Mijanur Rahman handed over the scholarships to the students

Staff Correspondent: The needy students of Jagannath University (JnU) have been awarded `Swami Vivekananda Scholarship` on Monday.

The scholarship giving ceremony was held at the JnU`s central auditorium in the capital in remembrance of Swami Vivekananda on the day.

A total 20 meritorious but poor students were awarded while a discussion programme was also held at that time.

"Swami Vivekananda was busy for the wellbeing of the mass people in his lifetime," says Professor Dr.Mijanur Rahman, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, at the discussion programme on the day.

"He removed all kinds of superstitions in the then Hindu religious people," points Dr.Mijanur Rahman.

Teachers, students and high officials of separate departments of the university were also present, among others, at that time.

Swami Vivekananda who was an Indian Hindu monk in 19th century was born on 12 January 1863 in Calcutta, Bengal Presidency and he is unforgettable for his role in the then societies.
