‘Tearing up copy of budget is contempt of parliament’

Criticizing BNP, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said BNP lawmakers tearing up a copy of the budget in front of the National Parliament, in the name of protest, amounts to contempt of parliament.

Obaidul Quader made the assertion while addressing a press conference at his residence on Thursday (July 2).

Expressing denunciation over the issue, he said, “It’s similar to breaking their oath. They didn’t do responsible behavior during the ongoing national crisis.”

“The calculation of financial year of most of the countries are different than us (Like January to December, April to March, October to September). That’s why they didn’t declare during these time. Negative growth was seen in many countries of the world including couple of Asian nations during this coronavirus crisis,” Obaidul.

He also said, incentives and initiatives of the Prime Minister to tackle coronavirus was praised in the famous economist, forbs, world economic forum and international arena.
