Int`l terrorism spread in the country: Suranjit

Awami League Advisory Council member Suranjit Sengupta

Staff Correspondent: Pointing to the Al-Qaeda’s claim of killing secular writer-blogger Avijit Roy, Awami League Advisory Council member Suranjit Sengupta said that terrorist activities of international outfits spread in the country.

Suranjit Sengupta, also a senior parliamentarian of the ruling Awami League made the remark while speaking as the chief guest on Monday at a discussion on current politics at the auditorium of the Institution of Diploma Engineers organised by Bangabandhu Academy.

“International terrorist outfit Al-Qaeda took responsibility of the killing of bloggers including Avijit. The communal political forces have forged alliance with all sorts of terrorism. So, all the secular democratic forces should be united in the mission for containing terrorism," he said.

Suranjit Sengupta said : "Bangladesh has now entered into the network of Al-Qaeda. Secular democratic politics is the only way to face it. Even the United States should have to realise now that the international terrorism has entered the national terrorism."

"It`s the right time for the government to take initiative to protect politics. So, the government should be more tough and stringent for the sake of continuation of the pace of development. Tough and solid decisions should have to be taken for continuation of democratic and constitutional process in the country. There`s no scope for compromise in this regard," he added.

The discussion was chaired by Bangabandhu Academy adviser Dr Khondokar Enamul Huq. Awami League presidium member Satish Chandra Roy, Dhaka City AL vice-president Faezuddin Miah and Bangabandhu Academy`s secretary general Humayun Kabir Mizi were the discussants, among others.
