Three killed in Jashore 'gunfights'

Staff Correspondent, Jashore: Three suspected drug peddlers were killed in 'gunfights' with them in two separate spots in the district early Monday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Police claimed that the deceased were drug traders. firearms, ammunition and drugs were seized from the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jessore Kotwali Model Police Station AKM Ajmal Huda said acting on tip off that a group of drug peddlers were locked into a gun battle in Sheikh Hati and Kholadanga area of the district town, police conducted raid in the areas around 4:00am on Monday and found the three bullet hit bodies and 500 pieces of Yaba pills.

Kollol Kumar Saha, emergency department doctor of Jashore 250 bed hospital said that Jashore Katwali police station Sub-Inspector Torun Kumar brought a bullet hit body while Jashore city-police outpost in-charge Abdur Rahim brought two bodies in the hospital.

The bodies were kept at hospital morgue, he added.
