Munna Bahini chief, 2 others killed in Barguna 'gunfight'

Staff Correspondent: Three alleged pirates including Munna Bahini chief were killed in a 'gunfight' with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Majherchar area under Patharghata upazila of Barguna on Wednesday morning.

RAB-8 wing commander Hasan Imon Al Rajib confirmed the matter.

The RAB official said Munna Bahini chief Swapon Peda and his cohorts took position in the area this morning. Later, on information, a team of RAB conducted the drive. Sensing the presence of RAB forces, the pirates opened fire aiming RAB personnel which triggered the gunfight. At one stage, the pirates fled the scene. Later, the law enforcers recovered three bodies from the area.  

A double barrel gun, a rifle, four pipe guns, 38 rounds of bullets and five lethal weapons were seized from the spot.
