Tk 3,528cr earned from tourism sector: Minister

Parliament Correspondent: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon on Thursday informed the House that the government earned Tk 3,528 crore as revenue from tourism sector in last five years.

The minister disclosed this while answering to a question of lawmaker Amina Ahmed during the question-answer session in the House presided over Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.

“The government has a plan to establish an Aviation Tourism University to provide both theoretical and practical education on aircraft and tourism related subjects”, he said while answering a query of treasury bench member Dr Dipu Moni.

The minister also informed the house that the government has a plan to set up tourism centers across the country’s viewable palaces gradually to attract the tourists.
