Two drug peddlers killed in Cumilla gunfight

Cumilla Correspondent: Two drug peddlers were killed and three policemen injured in a gunfight in Brahmanpara upazila of the district early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Babul, son of Malek hailed from Ashabari area of the upazila and Almas, son of Afaz Uddin.

Police said acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted drive on Bagra-Ramchadapur road in the area on Friday midnight. Meanwhile, sensing presence of police, drug peddlers opened fire aiming police. In reply, police also opened fire which triggered the gunfight, leaving the two drug traders bullet injured.

Later, the injured were sent to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared them dead.

Police also seized a pistol, 40 kilograms of cannabis from the spot.
