Verdict on compensation for Rajib's family Tuesday

Staff Correspondent: The Appellate Division of Supreme Court has fixed Tuesday (May 22) for delivering its verdict over the compensation to the family of Rajib Hasan.

A 4-member panel, headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, fixed the date after hearing in the case on Monday morning.

Lawyer Abdul Matin Khasru moved for the BRTC while Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajal stood for the state in the case.

Earlier on May 17, the court fixed Monday (May 21) for delivering its verdict.

On May 8, An HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice AKM Jahirul Haque ordered the owners of BRTC and Sajan Paribahan to pay Tk one crore to two brothers of Rajib. Later, BRTC submitted a petition to the concerned branch of Appellate Division to stay the order.

On April 3, Rajib Hossain, a third-year student of Government Titumir College, lost his right hand after it got stuck between two speeding buses trying to overtake each other in the capital's Bangla Motor area.
