Staff Correspondent: The High Court has issued a rule asking way the reappointment of Professor Dr Farzana Islam as the vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU) is not illegal.
A High Court bench of Justice Syed Refat Ahmed and Justice Md. Selim came up with the rule on Monday.
The concerned authorities have been asked to respond to the rule within next one week.
Advocate Shahdeen Malik stood for the writ petitioner and Deputy Attorney General Kazi Zanat Haque stood for the state.
On February 15, Professor Farzana Islam was reappointed as the vice-chancellor of JU for the second time for four years.
She was made the country’s first woman VC in the public university on March 2, 2014.
