World Metrology Day being observed today

Desk Report: The World Metrology Day 2018 is being observed in the country and elsewhere across the world today (Sunday).

The theme of the day this year is ‘Constant evolution of the International System of Units’ which has been fixed by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures and the International Organization of Legal Metrology.

President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion.

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has chalked out a number of programmes including discussion to mark the day in the country.

Besides, different banners, festoons and placards are being displayed in important places of city to observer the day.

BSTI has arranged a discussion at its head office in the city’s Tejgaon Industrial area.

The main objective of World Metrology Day is to raise public awareness about the importance of measurements in their day life.
