AL leader chopped dead in Pabna

Pabna Correspondent: Miscreants chopped a local Awami League leader to death in Sadar upazila of the district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Ripon Hossain, 30, son of Mokbul Hossain also Awami League general secretary of Ward number 9 of Gayeshpur Union.

Sources said that Shafiqul Islam with some others jointly stole a goat on Shab-e-Barat night. Following the issue, Ripon punished Shafiqul after getting his involvement in stealing.

Later, becoming furious, Shafiqul attacked Ripon with sharp weapon around 5:00pm on Sunday, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to Pabna General Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

Confirming the matter, Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Hasan said that police detained Shafiqul and his father.
