AL pays tributes to Bangabandhu

Staff Correspondent: Awami League has paid tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his grave at Tungipara on Saturday marking the beginning of month of mourning.

A delegation led by Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam placed a wreath at his grave at Tungipara around 12.00pm.

Earlier in the morning, party leaders placed wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi.

A 40-day programme of Awami League began today commemorating the 40th anniversary of martyrdom of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which is marked as the National Mourning Day.

The programmes of the month of mourning was initiated with a candle light vigil (march of lights) towards Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the capital at one minute past zero hours on August 1.
