Risingbd Desk: Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan is the latest celebrity to fall victim to the depredations of Twitter hackers after he discovered to his shock on Monday that his account on the micro-blogging site had been broken into.

The Big B came to this conclusion after he discovered after logging in, much to his discomfiture, that he was `following` certain salacious sites. He immediately alerted his fans and the culprits with the wry tweet: “WHOA!..My Twitter handle hacked ! Sex sites planted as `following`! Whoever did this, try someone else, buddy, I don`t need this!”

While it was as yet unclear as to what led to the prurient accounts being followed by Mr. Bachchan`s Twitter account, the sites in question have been promptly unfollowed.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bachchan also filed a complaint with the police against a string of “dirty, abusive” messages that he has allegedly been receiving over the past one year.

In a letter addressed to the senior police inspector of Juhu police station, the 72-year-old actor requested them to investigate the matter and take action against the perpetrators.

“Through a certain period of time, I have been receiving dirty and abusive messages on my personal phone. I attach here with photocopies of my mobile screen containing the content that I speak about,” he wrote in a letter to the police.

Mr. Bachchan posted this update Twitter as well, saying, “OKAAY.. Plot thickens! Had been getting several really dirty abusive sms for a year.. just handed all of them to the POLICE!”

The 72-year-old superstar, who regularly takes to Twitter to stay connected with his fans whom he fondly calls his `extended family`, has a staggering 16 million followers on Twitter including celebrities like Dilip Kumar and Shahrukh Khan.

Earlier, director Karan Johar and Kamal R. Khan`s Twitter accounts were hacked in 2012. While Mr. Johar said his account was sending random messages to people, Mr. Khan`s Twitter feed spewed a rash of lewd messages.
