BCL leader killed in Jessore in rival attack

Staff Correspondent, Jessore: A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling party, was killed in rival attack at Jirongachha village of the district's Sharsha upazila on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Biplob Hossain, 22, vice-president of local ULasi union BCL unit and son of Nazrul Islam of the village.

Agitate people blocked Jessore-Benapole road in protest of the incident that disrupted vehicle movement on the route.


Moniruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sharsha Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said there is a long standing dispute between Shahanur member and Hassan member groups of Jirongachha village. As a sequel to that people of Shahanur attacked on people of Hassan's group. In revenge, people of Hassan also attacked on the rival group's men on Saturday night, leaving Biplob critically injured.

He was rushed to local upazila health complex where he succumbed, he added.
