Eid special launch service from Thursday

JnU Correspondent: Special launch service on Dhaka-Barisal-Chandpur-Jhalokati-Hularhat-Morelganj river route will be started from Thursday to deal with the rush of home-bound passengers on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) along with the private ones will provide the service.

Joynal Abedin, joint director of traffic and security at the BIWTA, confirmed the matter on Tuesday noon.

Joynal Abedin said, "Eid special launch service will be started from Thursday which will continue for six days after the Eid.  All sorts of preparation are being taken to deal with the rush of home-bound passengers on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha."

Pre-ticketing service was launched for the river route passengers from the last Eid. No passengers will be allowed to get on the launch without ticket, he added.

BIWTC sources said launches--MV Bangali, MV Modhumoti, PS Ostrich, PS Lepcha, PS Turn and MV Sonargaon will be used for the special service.
