Bangladesh-India Home Minister level talks Thursday

Staff Correspondent: Growing activities of IS in the sub-continent, radicalisation of youths and anti-terror cooperation is expected to key issues on the agenda of the Bangladesh-India Home Minister-level talks scheduled to be held on Thursday.

 

An eight-member delegation led by Home Minister of Asaduzamman Khan Kamal will be on a three-day visit to India beginning from July 27.

 

The delegation include Senior Secretary of Home Ministry Dr. Mozammel Haque Khan, Inspector General of Police (IGP) A K M Shahidul Haque, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Aziz Ahmed, Coast Guard Chief Rear Admiral Aurangzeb Chowdhury, Director General of the Department of Narcotics Control Khandoker Rakibur Rahman.

 

Home Minister Asaduzamman Khan Kamal will discuss the recent Dhaka terror attack apart from issues related to the growth of Islamic State (IS) in the region, cooperation in counter-terrorism and border management with his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh.

 

The Bangladeshi team is expected to give a list of terror suspects who might have been hiding in India to escape that country`s security net.

 

Besides, infiltration, smuggling of narcotics and cattle and a few other issues will be discussed at the meeting.

 

The last Home Minister-level talks in India were held in December, 2012 in Bangladesh in January, 2013.
