New CEC, commissioners take oath

Staff Correspondent: Newly appointed chief election commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda and four other election commissioners were sworn in on Wednesday.

Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha administered the oath of the new CEC and commissioners at Supreme Court (SC) Judges Lounge at 3:10pm.

Meanwhile, Justices of appellate division were attended the programme.

The four new election commissioners -- former additional secretary Mahbub Talukder, ex-secretary Rafiqul Islam, ex-district and session's judge Begum Kabita Khanam and Brig Gen (rtd.) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury.

Earlier, on 6 February, President Abdul Hamid reconstituted the new Election Commission (EC) making former secretary KM Nurul Huda as the CEC.
