BNP waiting for fair election: Hafiz

BNP Vice-Chairman Maj (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed

Staff Correspondent: BNP Vice-Chairman Maj (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed said, “The country is now going through extreme tragedy. This government is of course not the last government. One day the country must see a fair election. We are waiting for that. The BNP is staging movement across the country not for coming in power but for restoring democracy, franchise and human rights."

The BNP leader came up with the remark at a meeting at the conference room of National Press Club in the city on Thursday.

Hafizuddin Ahmed urged the leaders and activists of BNP to remove this bad time through movements in the call of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in future.

Alleging that culture of impunity has gripped the country, the vice-chairman said, “There is no democracy in the country now. Democracy has gone into exile. Freedom of expression now does not exist in the country.”

He criticised the government for not responding to the call of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for holding a dialogue to get rid of the ongoing crisis in the country.
