Case filed over tailor killing in Tangail

Staff Correspondent, Tangail: A case has been filed against three unknown people over the killing of hindu tailor at the district`s Gopalpur.

Aratai Joardar, wife of slain Nikhil Joardar, lodged the case with Gopalpur Police Station on Satruday night.

Confirming about the law suit, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gopalpur Police Station Abdul Jalil said no name was mentioned in the case.

Unidentified assailants hacked Nikhil, 50, son of Nalini Kanti Joardar of the area, to death at his tailoring shop at Dubail Bazaar under Gopalpur upazila in broad daylight on Saturday noon.

Six to seven hours after the murder, international Islamic militant group Islamic State (IS) claimed the responsibility of killing.

Police said local Islamic militant group might have carried out the murder as Nikhil was arrested over his derogatory comments about prophet Mohammad (PUBH).
