Child dies, Hema Malini injured in road accident

Risingbd Desk: Veteran India actress and Mathura BJP MP Hema Malini was injured in a road accident in Dausa while on her way to Jaipur.

The Mathura MP`s Mercedes-Benz and a Maruti Alto collided in which one child occupant of the other vehicle was killed, officials said.

Photos on Twitter showed the MP with a blood-splattered face walking in a daze. Television visuals showed her badly damaged car being cordoned off on the road by police personnel. She has been admitted to the Fortis Hospital in Jaipur. The occupants of the Alto were also injured.

The 66-year-old actor received a stitch on her head and is reported to be fine, according to her close aide. She was rushed to the Jaipur Fortis hospital from the accident spot in Dausa, 60 km from here, and is undergoing medical scans.

There were five occupants in the Alto — 2 women, 2 children and a man, a Dausa district official said. Dausa Collector Swaroop Panwar said a girl child in the Alto died in the accident near Dausa Highway at 8.50 p.m., while two of the survivors were seriously injured.

The veteran actress has worked in over 150 films in various languages in her over 40-year-long film career.
