Couple held over death of house help

Staff Correspondent: A couple has been arrested in connection with the death of a 12-year old house help in city.

Mohammadpur Thana Police arrested Shariful Islam and his wife Rejia Begum Lija from Gazipur on Saturday midnight.

The house help Hasina Khatun died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on May 20.  There is an allegation that the underage house help died allegedly after being tortured by her employers at Mohammadpur in Dhaka.

Shariful Islam took her to the hospital providing fake addresses on May 20.
 

Ensuring the news, OC of Mohammadpur Thana Jamaluddin Mir said the deceased mother’s Salma Akhter filed a case, and the arrestees will be produced before the court on Sunday.
