Wellington Test: Tigers slide in fourth day evening

Sport Desk: Bangladesh's dominance over the Wellington Test slid after they lost three quick wickets in the evening of Day 4 of the first of a two-match Test series against New Zealand.

Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes, who had earlier taken a record five catches as a sub keeper, began positively in Bangladesh's second dig. The Tigers' misfortune appeared as Kayes had been stretchered off the field after he sustained an injury following a dive to escape a run-out in the 5th delivery of 13th over.

Tamim (25) was beaten by turn and bowled in the following over off Mitchell Santner, Mahmudullah (5) was caught down the leg side off Wagner, and then Miraz (1) was run-out what turned out to be the last ball on day four.

Bangladesh were 46/0 when Kayes was retired hurt for 24. But the Tigers lost three wickets in next six overs and went for 66/3 at stumps, leading by 122 runs with 7 wickets remaining in the second innings.

Earlier, the Blackcaps were all out scoring 539 runs in 148.2 overs which gave the visitors a 56-run lead as they declared their first inning at 595 for 8 in 152 overs.
