Muggers stab 2 fish traders in moving bus

Staff Corresondent: Two fish traders were stabbed in moving bus by muggers at the capital's Tikatuli area early Friday.

The victims were identified as Alam Mia, 50, and Shafiqul Islam, 30.

They were admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). They used to trade in Kaptan Bazar in the capital.

Bachhu Mia, Sub-Inspector (SI) of DMCH police outpost, said  Alam and Shafiq got on a Turag Paribahan bus in front of Bangabhaban early Friday. Some four to five muggers swooped on them in the bus and snatched Tk 25,000 after stabbing them. Muggers, the bus driver and his associate fled the bus when it reached at Janapad intersection.

He said Jatrabari police rescued them and rushed them to DMCH.

Alam sustained injury in his stomach while Sahfiq at right arm, he added.

However, the victims are now danger free, he said.

Confirming the news, Anisur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station, said a case will be filed in this connection.
