Uzzal Jisan: The Ministry of Information recently directed the authorities concerned to conduct drive against all illegally operated TV channels in the country soon.

According to the sources, the drives will be operated against the illegally-run channel excluding government-approved a total of 24 TV channels.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Jahangir Alam Sarkar, confirmed this to risingbd.com in this regard.

A letter in this connection with directives to conduct operation against the channels, signed by the Senior Assistant Secretary of the ministry of information, Akhtaruzzaman Talukdar, was sent to the authorities concerned on July 21.

Jahangir Alam said, "Some illegally-run TV channels are operating their transmissions in the country but government does not get revenue from the channels."

"The channels are being telecasted separate advertisements of uncultured issues including medicines of how to get the body thick and thin with obscene photos and pictures," alleged the DMP official.

According to the Ministry of Information sources, the illegally transmitted channels are included- Movie Bangla, Film Bangla TV, Bengal Movie SK TV, Channel-5, Channel-7, DM TV, Bangla Music TV, SB TV, Citizen TV, Ananda Bangla TV, SK TV, Citizen TV and Rang TV.
