Evidence on DSCC staff torture found

Bikash Chandra Das

Staff Correspondent: The investigation committee of police has found evidence of torture on Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Conservancy Officer Bikash Chandra Das.

The two committees formed to investigate into the incident got evidence of brutal behavior by sub-inspector (SI) Arshadul Islam Akash of Jatrabari Police Station and his men.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Wari Division) Syed Nurul Islam said that the authorities concerned have been directed to take departmental steps in this regard.

On January 15, 2016, Bikash was going to supervise road cleaning work on a motorcycle around 4:15am. At that time, some plainclothes policemen signaled Bikash to pull over but he stopped a little bit ahead. SI Arshadul Islam Akash of Jatrabari Police Station with his men pounced on DSCC Conservancy Officer Bikash Chandra Das "without any reason". Akash hit Bikash on the nose with the butt of his gun. Bikash started bleeding from the nose.
