Govt feels no pressure by John Kerry`s phone call

Staff Correspondent: Law Minister Anisul Haque has ruled out any pressure from John Kerry`s phone call to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over the murder of USAID official and gay-rights activist Xulhaz Mannan.

 

He said, " US Secretary of State John Kerry made phone call to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and expressed their eagerness to assist in the investigation over the murder. We will do our work in our own way. Government does not feel any pressure by the phone call."

 

The Minister came up with the disclosure to the newsmen after inaugurating the two-day long 21st District Convention of Lions Club International at the capital`s Hotel Sonargaon on Friday.

 

Anisul Haque said, "Every unnatural death makes us shocked. Government is conducting fair investigation in all incidents of murders. The killers must be brought to justice. We also got some evidences over Xulhaz Mannan murder. But the killing is little bit different."

 

US Secretary of State John Kerry phoned up Prime Minister Sheikih Hasina and asked her to arrest the killers of USAID official and gay-rights activist Xulhaz Mannan around 9:00pm on Thursday.
