Mothers to receive pry students’ stipend on mobile

Magura Correspondent: The government will pay out stipend to students of primary schools through mobile banking services across the country from the next month.

Akram-Al-Hossain, additional secretary of primary and mass education ministry, said this while speaking at a programme in Magura on Friday.

He said, “The number of stipend recipients stood at 1.30 lakh across the country and the stipend will be sent to their mothers’ mobile accounts directly.”

Of the 1.30 lakh recipients, around 90 lakh mothers have already completed their registration, Hossain added.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the disbursement of the stipend through mobile banking services in a formal programme likely to be held on March 1, Hossain said.

On September last year, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Rupali Bank and Teletalk signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to the disbursement of the primary stipend through mobile banking.
