Physician, nurse die of food poisoning

Sirajganj Correspondent: A physician and a nurse reportedly died of food poisoning after they had meals at invitation of a colleague house.

Critically sick another is undergoing treatment at Bogra Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital in the same incident.

He is known as head-clerk Alamgir Hossain of the hospital. He is now in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The deceased was identified as Moniruzzaman, Health and Family Planning Officer of Kazipur Upazila Health Complex in Sirajganj, and Zobeda Khatun, senor nurse of the hospital.

They both breathed their last at Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital around 8:45pm on Tuesday, after nearly an hour they kept under life-support.

Moniruzzaman appointed as physician through 29th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination. His family members live in Dhaka.

Dr. Monzur Rahman Sheikh, Civil Surgeon of Sirajganj, confirmed the news.

Mojharul Islma, health inspector of Kazipur Health Complex, said the staffs of the hospital took meals at the invitation of Alamgir's house. In the menu, there were three dishes including one of green jackfruit curry. After having meals, the three became sick. They firstly gave treatment at the upazila health complex. Later, they were shifted to Bogra as their conditions seriously deteriorated.
