Five killed in Comilla road crash

Staff Correspondent, Comilla: Five people have been killed in separate two road accidents in Comilla on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Ajgor Ali, 20, Sumon Das, 32, Iqbal, 20, Monsur, 18, and Moynal Mia 23. All of them hailed from different districts.

Confirming the matter to risingbd.com, Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Moynamoti Police Station, said four people were killed and three others injured as a passenger bus collided head-on with a pick-up van carrying ducks on the Comilla-Feni highway at Chouara Bazar area under Sadar Dakhin upazila in the district on Friday morning. The collision left pick-up van driver Sumon das, helper Iqbal, businessmen Monsur and Moynal Mia dead on the spot.

On the other hand, Ajgor Ali, a passer-by, was killed when a truck which was loaded with stones and coming from Sylhet ran over him at Cantonment Kachabar area on the Comilla-Sylhet highway in the morning, the OC said.

The deceased have been kept at Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.

Earlier, Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Comilla Sadar Dakshin Model police station, said the accident took place as a passenger bus collided head-on with a human-hauler (Laguna) at Sadar Dakhin upazila in the district on Friday morning.
