Bangladesh lose 9 for 49

Sport Desk: Bangladesh lost nine wickets for 49 runs as Moeen Ali led England`s fightback with a five-wicket haul.

 

After losing Imraul Kayes in the third over, Tamim Iqbal (104) and Mominul Haque (66) produced a 170-run stand for the second wicket, only to see the innings collapse from 171/2 to 220 all out.

 

England`s Off-spinner Moeen took five wickets conceding 57 runs in 19.5 overs. Chris Woakes supported him with three wickets. Ben Stokes took two wickets.

 

Tamim Iqbal recorded his eighth Test century bagging 104 runs as Bangladesh were bundled out for 220 in 63.5 overs during the opening day’s play of the second and final Test against England in Mirpur on Friday.

 

It was 10th fifty of Mominul Haque (66). He along with Tamim rescued Bangladesh after the early departure of Imrul Kayes (one).

 

Mahmudullah (13), captain Mushfiqur Rahim (4), Sabbir Rahman (0), Shuvagata Hom (6), Mehedi Hasan Miraz (1), Shakib al Hasan (10) and Kamrul Islam Rabbi (0) though all departed in quick succession as the hosts lost their last nine wickets for the addition of only 49 runs.
