JCD President Rajib Ahsan on 8-day remand

Staff Correspondent: Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Rajib Ahsan has been put on an eight-day remand in five separate cases filed with Paltan, Motijheel and Shahabag Police Stations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M Samsul Arefin granted a six-day remand on Wednesday noon when investigating officers of four cases produced Rajib before his court seeking a 50-day remand.
A court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam Bhuiyan also granted a two-day remand when an investigating officer of another case produced the JCD leader before his court seeking a 10-day remand.
On July 19, law enforcers arrested Rajib and his five associates allegedly with 45 Yaba tablets and a bottle of liquor in a car at Lebukhali ferryghat in Dumki upazila. Officer-in-charge of Dumki Police Station Azam Khan filed a case against them under the Narcotics Control Act.
On July 21, Patuakhali senior chief judicial magistrate court sent Rajib and his associates to jail rejecting their bail prayers. On July 27, he was taken to Dhaka Central Jail.
Rajib has been facing at least 23 cases filed with different police stations in the capital for street violence.
