Textbook Festival on Jan 1

Staff Correspondent: National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) will organise the "National Textbook Festival" on January 1 across the country.

An Education Ministry press release has been issued in this regard on Friday.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will inaugurate the central programme of the "National Textbook Festival-2017" at Azimpur Government Girls School and College in the capital at 9.30 am on January 1.

Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Division Md Sohrab Hossain, Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Education Division Md Alamgir and Chairman of National Curriculum, Textbook Board (NCTB) Prof Narayan Chandra Saha and other top officials will attend the function.

More than 5,000 students of 31 schools of the capital will also join the function, the press release said.

This festival will be held at every educational institution of secondary level of the country. Representatives from all divisions, districts and upazilas and top officials of local administration will be present at the function, the press release added.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally hand over the textbooks of both primary and secondary level educational institutions to students at Ganabhaban in the capital at 10:00am on Saturday.
