`Keeping only ICT-1 is cheating with countrymen`

DU Correspondent: Criticizing the ruling government Gonojagoron Mancha spokesman Imran H Sarkar on Friday alleged, "Decision to keep one International Crimes Tribunal is directly cheating with the countrymen."

Protesting government`s recent decisions in reforming International Crimes Tribunals formed to try the war criminals, he came up with the allegation on the day while addressing a rally held in the capital.

 

"It is a suicidal decision of the government," says Imran.

Earlier on the Thursday the ruling Awami League-led government has taken plans to reform the International Crimes Tribunals soon.

The secretary of Law and Justice Division, ASSM Zahirul Haque, has confirmed this to newsmen on Thursday evening.

According to the decision of the Law Ministry, International Crimes Tribunal-1 will be kept effective to run the trial of the war criminals while International Crimes Tribunal-2 remains inactive.

In a bid to try the war criminals, International Crimes Tribunal-1 was formed on March 25, 2010 at the old High Court Bhaban and the International Crimes Tribunal-2 was formed while the cases in this regard were increased later.

The International Crimes Tribunal-2 was formed on March 22, 2012.
