Launch movement for rights: Khaleda Zia

Staff Correspondent: BNP Chairman Khaleda Zia has urged the countrymen to launch movement to bring back their rights.

Khaleda Zia made the call while speaking at a rally marking the May Day at the city’s historic Suhrawardy Udyan on Sunday afternoon.

In her speech, Khaleda Zia alleged that the ruling Awami League government is cooking all necessary recipes to cling to power forever.

Lambasting the government as a “total failure,” Khaleda said her party will not allow another general election under the Awami League.

“The Awami League has embezzled Tk 30,000 crore during their seven years of rule. It has all been siphoned outside the country,” she alleged.

Khaleda said journalist Shafik Rehman was arrested and put on remand as he collected some information about Prime Minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy’s involvement in siphoning off Tk 2,500 crore.

She demanded the government either release Shafik Rehman and Amar Desh editor Mahmudur Rahman or arrest Joy and grill him over the laundered Tk 2,500 crore.

BNP`s workers` front Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal arranged the programme, marking the May Day.
