Legal notice for reopening facebook

Staff Correspondent: A Supreme Court lawyer on Wednesday served a legal notice, in public interest seeking the reopening of social network sites Facebook, Messenger, Viber and WhatsApp.

Lawyer Advocate Kumar Debul De issued the legal notice to secretary of Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology asking to open the social networks within 24 hours.

Kumar Debul De told risingbd.com that Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology received the notice around 4:00pm Wednesday.

The notice said that on November 18, the authority shut the social networks. But, the decision is against the Information Act and Section-39 of the Constitution.

Earlier, the state minister for posts and telecommunications has said that the social networking sites were shut down in the country in the interest of national security’.
