Mahfuz Anam should resign: Health Minister

Staff Correspondent: Health Mohammad Nasim said the Daily Star editor Mahfuz Anam should resign immediately as he created a situation to hold Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina publishing false news during the ‘1/11 episode’ followed by the army-backed government’s tenure.

The Minister said Mahfuz Anam should seek apology and resign admitting his mistakes committed during ‘1/11 episode’.

Health Minister said this while a delegation conference held Awami Juba League central office in the capital`s Bangabandhu Avenue on Friday.

The Minister said for Mahfuz Anam that you are an educated person. You might have remembered that Star News, a periodical of News of the World, published false news against then British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. For this, not only then editor of the periodical Rebeka but also editor of the News of the World resign and sought apologies. So, you should also quit immediately.

Nasim said the renowned journalist Mahfuz Anam confessed that he had published false news against Sheikh Hasina which created situation to arrest her during ‘1/11 episode’.
