Man killed in ‘gunfight’ in Narsingdi

Narsingdi Correspondent: A man was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Detective Branch of police early Tuesday at Tatapara of Narsingdi.


The diseased was identified as Arif Mia, son of Abdul Halim of Madhabdi village under Birampur upazila of the district.


Sources said that acting on a tip off, police conducted a raid at the area around 5:00am while Arif with his accomplices were preparing to commit crime.Sensing the presence of law enforcers, Arif gang open fired at the police and police also fired back, leaving Arif critically injured. His other accomplices managed to flee the scene.


Arif was first taken to a Narsingdi hospital. Later, he was shifted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital when his condition worsened.


Arif died while undergoing treatment around 8:15am.


Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narsingdi Detective Police Delwar Hossian said that Arif was accused in at least six cases including murder and extortion.
