Robber killed in gunfight between 2 gangs

Staff Correspondent, Jessore: A robber was killed in a gunfight between two gangs at Jogahati area on Jessore-Chougachha road early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Rasel alias Rony, 25, son of Kumor Ali of Mothparha of Chougachha upazila.

Elias Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station, said robbers of two gangs locked into a gunfight at Jogahati area early Wednesday. Being informed, police rushed the spot. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, robbers of the both gangs fled the scene. Later, police recovered the body of a robber and sent it to Jessore Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.

M Moshiur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chougachha Police Station, said Rony was accused in at least eight cases including robbery.

Law enforcers also seized a shooter gun and several rounds of bullets from the spot, he added.
