Patuakhali Correspondent: A Barguna Court sentenced Miraj, 43, the sole accused of minor Robiul murder case, to death penalty.
Judge Mohammad Abu Taher of Barguna Additional District and Sessions Judge Court passed the order on Tuesday.
Miraj is a resident of Chhoto Amkhola village of Sonakata union of the district.
Miraj beat Robiul, 11, to death over allegations of stealing fish on August 3, 2015. Police recovered his body from a canal known as Lokarar canal on August 4, the following day of his killing.
Miraj was arrested on the day. Later, he gave confessional before court statement to the killing. Police pressed charge sheet against Miraj on August 25.
Robiul was the only son of his father and second among the three children. He was a class-IV student of Farazibai Dakhil madrasa, family sources said.
Dulal Mridha, father of Robiul, is a shopkeeper of small machineries at Taltali bazaar and with the income of the shop he used to run his family of five.
