Bangabandhu’s killing stopped country development: PM

Staff Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the country could have been turned into a developed and prosperous country at least 25-30 years back had Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman been alive.

The Premier made the assertion while addressing a rally marking Bangabandhu’s homecoming day at Suhrawardy Udyan on Tuesday.

She said those who grabbed power after 1975, they did not allow the nation to stand boldly.

Sheikh Hasina also said, “The way he (Bangabandhu) had attained the nation’s independence, the similar way he could have achieved economic development for the country, but he was not allowed to do that.

Earlier, the rally began in the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan in attendance of hundreds of thousands of supporters, activists and leaders of the ruling party.
