Walton begin Corporate Cricket with victory

Staff Correspondent: Walton Group began the 6th season of T20 Corporate Cricket Tournament with an easy win against NRB Commercial Bank.

The title aspirants defeated their opponents by 19 runs at Residential Model School and College ground in city on Saturday.

Winning toss, Walton skipper Uday Hakim chose to bat first. They scored 139 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs.

In reply, NRB Commercial Bank managed to score 120 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs.

Walton's vice-captain Abdullah Al Mamun and Sazzad built a 65-run partnership in the 5th wicket after they lost 4 quick wickets for 30 runs in 7 overs. Mamun scored 46 off 20 balls hitting 5 sixes and 1 four while Sazzad added 34 more off 27 balls.

Besides, Nurul scored 12 while skipper Uday Hakim added unbeaten 9 runs to put a fighting total on the scoreboard.

NRB Commercial Bank bowler Faruk claimed 4 wickets for 20 while Polash and Kamruzzaman each took 2 wickets.

Polash also scored 40 runs off 33, highest for his team, while Asif added 32 more.

However, Walton bowlers were able to restrict them for 120 to begin the tournament with a win.

Walton all-rounder Abdullah Al Mamun who also claimed a wicket for only 11 runs was awarded the Player of the Match prize.

Alharamain Perfumes 6th T20 Corporate Cricket Tournament 2016, powered by Marcel, began on Friday where 24 corporate houses are participating.
