New pay scale unlikely to be tabled on Monday

KMA Hasnat: The proposed new pay scale is not being placed for the Cabinet approval at it’s Monday meeting due to various problems, sources said.

The proposed revised pay scale is likely to be placed for Cabinet approval next week, said a source in the finance ministry.

The updated report of new pay scale prepared by a secretary-level committee was submitted to Prime Minister, and later it was sent to the finance ministry.

The report, which revised the Bangladesh Pay and Services Commission’s recommendations, suggested a maximum basic pay of Tk 80,000 and a minimum of Tk 8,200.

At a programme on July 27, Finance Ministry AMA Muhith said the proposed revised pay scale will be placed for Cabinet approval on Monday (Aug 3).

The finance ministry has already finalized its structure, but it is facing a problem to adjust the grade and time scale of teachers.
