No instruction for evicting bachelor tenants: DMP

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said they did not give any instruction to the house/apartment owners to throw out their bachelor tenants.

Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media and publication) of DMP, said, “We have just asked the house owners to keep detailed information about the tenants.”

He said this while addressing a press conference at DMP media centre on Saturday noon.

“We want to ensure all-out security for all,” Masudur Rahman said.

The house owners have to submit detail information of their tenants to respective police station, according to the DMP instruction,

He, however, said it is up to the house owners to whom they will rent out their house to.

Action will be taken against those who will not comply with the instruction, DMP said.

Following the Kalyanpur raid on July 26, a rumour spread in the area that house owners were asked not to rent their houses or flats to bachelors.

Meanwhile, DMP has continued to look out for suspected hideouts of militants, particularly at bachelors’ mess and flats in different areas of the capital.
