Two priests in Khulna get death threat

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: Two priests in Khulna received death threats over mobile phone on Friday noon.

 

Suvash Chakroborty, publicity affairs secretary of Bangladesh Interchurch Pastors and Leaders Fellowship (BIPLF) - Khulna branch, said one Sumon claiming commander of Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) threatened Reverend Thomas Joy, acting secretary general of BIPLF, and Ramen Bairagi, chief bishop of Khulna divisional catholic church, to death over mobile phone at 1:11 pm on Friday.

 

Confirming the death threat Reverend Thomas Joy said, `The man who threatened me told that you (me) read Bible at the convocation of Khulna University in presence of president. You will resign from all of your posts within 72 hours or not you two persons will not alive`.

 

Meanwhile, a general diary (GD) has been filed with Sonadanga Model Police Station in this connection.

 

Sukumar Biswas, officer-in-charge of Sonadanga Model Police Station, confirmed over filing the GD.
