Obamas get down on `Star Wars` day (Video)

Risingbd Desk: Waving their arms in the air and bopping from side to side, the Obamas embraced Star Wars Day with a dance along with R2-D2 and a couple of stormtroopers.

Barack and Michelle Obama jigged in the White House with the fictional characters to Bruno Mars` hit single `Uptown Funk` which the First Lady said was her `favorite song`.

The President could be heard encouraging the stormtroopers to join in saying `come on, come on` as he danced behind his rather more enthusiastic wife.

The 22-second clip was posted on the White House`s official Facebook and Twitter accounts with the caption: `Dance. Or dance not. There is no try. #MayThe4thBeWithYou.`

May 4 is celebrated as Star Wars Day because of the saying `May the 4th be with you`.

People across the globe celebrated the event on social media, sharing videos and images from the hugely popular film series.

Actress Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, joined in with the celebrations by sharing behind the scenes pictures of her on set.

Facebook CEO also marked the occasion - by inviting Chewbacca, two Ewoks, a Rebel soldier and an Imperial stormtrooper into the firm`s headquarters for a team meeting.

After the huge box office success of `The Force Awakens` which came out last year, fans are now awaiting the next instalment, `Star Wars Episode VIII`, currently in production and due for release in December 2017.
