Sports Correspondent: Former national cricketer Shahadat Hossain is still banned from all sorts of crickets in a case filed for torturing 11-year-old domestic help.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is not allowing Shahadat to play as his case is under trial in the court.

Pacer Shahadat says there is no bar to take part in any cricket for sake of his livelihood although the court is yet to deliver full verdict of the case. He has been repeatedly saying this to the BCB officials and journalists for many days.

The pacer on Thursday came to Mirpur Cricket Stadium and arranged a press conference where he apologised to the entire nation for the worst incident committed by him.

In a written statement, Shahadat says, “I feel repent for my undesired activity and I apologise to whole nation. I apologise to president of Bangladesh Cricket Board and its all officials and all cricketers for my fault. To err is human and I have done an error.”

On September 6 last year, the domestic help, Happy, brought the allegation of torture against Shahadat and his wife. Later, a case was filed against the couple with Mirpur Police Station in this connection.

Police on October 4 last year arrested Shahadat’s wife in the capital`s Malibagh area. Shahadat surrendered before the court on the following day.
