Padma flows 96cm up danger level

Faridpur Correspondent: With the continuous rise of water level in the rivers including the Padma for the last couple of days, overall flood situation in the district deteriorated further inundating fresh areas of 11 unions of three upazilas.

 

The Padma is flowing over 28 cm of damager level.


Many areas of Faridpur Sadar, Charbhadrasan, Sadarpur were submerged making 15 thousands of people marooned. Erosion has also been compounded increasing the woes of the people living on the river banks of Padma.

Idris Ali of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) said the water level in the Padma rose by 21 cm and the river flew 96 cm up danger mark in last 24 hours due to incessant rainfall and onrush of waters from the upstream.


Executive Magistrate Rubayet Hayat Shiplu said the government has allocated 15 tonness of rice and Tk 30,000 for the flood affected people and distribution of rice among the affected families are on.
