Pakistan-Afghanistan border closed

International Desk: Hours after a suicide bomber killed 70 people at Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine Sehwan Sharif, Sindh, Pakistan closed its border with Afghanistan owing to security reasons.

In a press statement, DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that the border was closed with immediate effect till further orders due to security reasons.

The move came after Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa vowed to avenge each drop of nation’s blood immediately.

“Each drop of nation’s blood shall be revenged, and revenged immediately,” said the army chief in a statement.  “No more restraint for anyone,” he said.

He also appealed to the nation to stay calm in the wake of multiple terrorist attacks in the country in recent days.

“Your security forces shall not allow hostile powers to succeed. We stand for our nation,” he said.

He further said that the recent terrorist acts are being executed on directions from hostile powers and from sanctuaries in Afghanistan.

“We shall defend and respond,” he added.
