Man to die for killing wife in Manikganj

Manikganj Correspondent: A Manikganj Court sentenced a man to death penalty for killing his wife 2007.

The death-row convict is known as Alamgir Hossain, resident of Nazirpur village of the district’s Singair upazila.

Judge Mizanur Rahman of Manikganj District and Sessions Judge Court passed the order in absence of the accused on Tuesday noon.

According to the case statement, Alamgir made hang the body of his wife Momotaj Begum in cowshed after killing her at his home over marital discord on April 14, 2007. Following the day, Anesa Begum, mother of Momotaj Begum, filed a murder case against the lone accused Alamgir. Police arrested him after the case. Later, he secured bail for six months on February 16, 2014. Since then, he has been on the run.
